On September 29, 2012 the #1 Seed Springfield Foxes hosted the Chicago Thunder who last won a National Championship in 2008. The game would be played at the new home of FoxNation, beautiful Sacred Heart Griffin High School Stadium in the Capital City of Springfield, IL.
- Dr. Todd Austin (team Chiropractor / team Trainer) consoled his wife Eugena B. Austin, L.M.T. (team Massage Therapist / Assistant Trainer) after the Springfield Foxes beat the Chicago Thunder to win their first MSFL Eastern Conference title.
The Foxes outlasted the Thunder in a defensive struggle. #20 Akeem Topps scored the Foxes lone TD of the game. After a 7-7 tie, the Foxes nailed a short field goal late to take the lead. Then with less than a minute remaining in regulation time and the Thunder in field goal range, Chicago completed a short pass. Then 3 Foxes defenders including #22 Jae Russell and #45 Michael Rose made the play of the game by forcing and recovering a fumble to preserve the Foxes victory and the first ever MSFL Eastern Conference Championship for Fox Nation!
